Natural Language Generation: How the Job Profile of Writers Changed without Anyone Noticing

In the last years, the automated production of texts has made headlines as "robot journalism”:

NLG technology generates texts in different languages based on structured data (without translation) and guarantees topicality and correctness of the contents.

Requirements, such as those for regionalization/localization, will be met, as well as the grammar in the system and thus guaranteed correct output - all done by the machine.

This has changed how we think about text production: for the first time since the invention of the typewriter, writing is now not a manual job anymore, but a real “digitalized” effort.
